Description
David Reeves is a tight end, most recently playing for the Cleveland Browns. The tight end was signed shortly after the 2016 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Reeves played at Greensboro Public West High School in Greensboro, Alabama under coach Curtis Graves. The talented tight end was charted as the No. 1 tight end in Alabama by Rivals.com and listed as the No. 51 tight end in the nation by Scout.com. Reeves helped Greensboro Public West to three straight state playoff berths and as a senior, caught 28 passes for 356 yards and two TDs. David Reeves played college football at Duke University.
In 2014 as a member of the Duke Blue Devils, David Reeves was named an Academic All-ACC selection. The tight end started all 13 games and caught 13 passes for 103 yards (7.92) and three TDs. He had 2+ receptions in three games including a season-high three catches against Elon and scored a game-winning TD on a 3-yard pass from QB Thomas Sirk in Duke’s 20-13 win over Virginia. The touchdown grab came with 7:23 remaining in the fourth period and snapped a 13-13 deadlock. David Reeves also scored single-game TDs versus Troy (2 yards from Sirk) and Wake Forest (18 yards from Sirk) and was credited with five tackles on special teams.
In 2015, David Reeves played in all 13 games with nine starts and caught 13 passes for 104 yards. He had season highs for both receptions (3) and receiving yards (32) at Army West Point. Reeves logged 2-reception outings against Northwestern and Virginia Tech and teamed with Braxton Deaver (21-183-2) and Erich Schneider (15-123-3) to form a Tight End trio that combined for 49 receptions for 410 yards and five TDs for the Blue Devils. Reeves was also credited with two tackles on special teams.
In 53 career games at Duke, David Reeves logged 35 starts and caught 47 passes for 367 yards and seven touchdowns. The tight end finished his career tied for third on the school’s all-time chart for Touchdown receptions by a Tight End and became the first player in Duke history to register Touchdown receptions in multiple bowl games. David Reeves helped Duke to 33 wins including the 2013 ACC Coastal Division championship and four bowl game appearances (2012 Belk, 2013 Chick-fil-A, 2014 Hyundai Sun and 2015 New Era Pinstripe)
