Description

Kyle Juszczyk is a 3-Time Pro Bowl fullback for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Harvard, and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

In the 2012 season, he led the Harvard Crimson with 52 receptions for 706 yards and eight TDs. Juszczyk was invited and participated in the Senior Bowl and finished with four carries for nine yards used primarily out of the H-back position for the North team. His great season also earned him an East-West Shrine Game invitee. The talented fullback was also voted First team All-America by Associated Press and First team All-America by American Football Coaches Association. (AFCA) The Medina, Ohio native graduated Harvard as the program’s all-time leader among tight ends in receptions (125, sixth all-time), receiving yards (1,576, seventh all-time) and touchdown receptions (22, third all-time).

A fourth-round draft pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Juszczyk was asked to transition from the tight end/H-Back position he played at Harvard to fullback in the NFL. The transition was aided by the Ravens’ release of three-time Pro Bowler Vonte Leach, which gave Juszczyk the opportunity to take the bulk of the snaps.

Juszczyk saw action in all 16 games (14 starts) and netted 19 receptions for 182 yards and 1 TD in 2014 with the Ravens. Juszczyk also helped the Ravens establish franchise single-season records in yards (5,838) and points scored (409). He posted his first-career reception (finished the game with 3 catches for 54 yards) and his first-career TD (9-yarder) in the 23-21 victory at Cleveland. (9/21/14)

Entering the regular season in 2016, Juszczyk was the Baltimore Raven’s de facto starter at fullback. In the season-opener against the Buffalo Bills, he caught two passes for 22 receiving yards and had one carry for two yards as the Ravens won 13-7. On October 2, 2016, Juszczyk caught a career-high six passes for 56 receiving yards as Baltimore lost to the Oakland Raiders 27-28. On January 20th, 2016, it was announced that he was elected as an original selection to his first Pro Bowl. On December 25, 2016, Juszczyk scored his first career rushing touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On September 10th, 2017, in his 49ers debut, Juszczyk had two receptions for 17 yards in the season opening 23–3 loss to the Carolina Panthers. On December 19, 2017, Juszczyk was named to his second Pro Bowl. Overall, he finished the 2017 season with 33 receptions for 315 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. Juszczyk ranked fourth among all fullbacks with an overall grade of 74.8 by Pro Football Focus.

In the 2018 season opener against the Minnesota Vikings, he recorded a 56-yard reception in the 24–16 loss. He scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 2019 Pro Bowl was the National Football League’s all-star game for the 2018 NFL season, played on January 27, 2019, at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The AFC walked away with a 26-7 win over the NFC, with Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes taking home offensive MVP honors. Mahomes went 7-for-14 for 156 yards and got the scoring started with a touchdown to Eric Ebron. Mahomes’ Chiefs teammate Anthony Sherman also got in on the fun, running in this score to put the AFC up 14-0. Sherman also added three catches for 92 yards for good measure.

While Mahomes took home offensive MVP honors, the defensive MVP went to New York Jets’ safety Jamal Adams. Without any mascots to tackle, Adams went to work on the NFC’s quarterbacks, picking off pass from Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky on a double pass from Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen. Adams finished the afternoon with two solo tackles, a sack, and an interception. The AFC has now won all three Pro Bowls since a return to the traditional format back in 2017.
