Description
Nic Weishar is a former tight end for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Weishar earned his undergraduate degree in May 2018 from Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. He is working toward his master’s degree in finance. The talented tight end attended Marist High School and threatened the all-time Illinois prep record book with his 237 career catches for 3,050 yards and 28 touchdowns. Weishar played both ways in football, displaying noteworthy talents on the basketball court as well — and had college football program powerhouses including Notre Dame, Michigan and Northwestern interested in adding him to their roster.
Weishar played in all 13 games his senior year with the Fighting Irish. He was named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List (2018, 2017), Allstate AFCA Good Works Team (2018), and Irish Around the Bend Award (2017) recipient. Notre Dame Head Coach Brian Kelly said about Weishar after a victory over Temple: “He can catch the damn football, doesn’t matter where you throw it. … He created that on his own, and he’s just had so much confidence in the way he’s been playing and it’s carried over.” Weishar’s skillset extends beyond his hands and to his willingness to engage as a blocker. In some respects, that combination makes him the ideal red-zone tight end.
Besides football, Weishar has been active in the community playing a huge role in Weish4Ever, the Andrew Weishar Foundation. His family started the AWF to honor Nic’s brother Andrew who passed away from cancer in 2012. Andrew was also helping others to live with faith, courage, and strength. They hold an annual music festival called “WeishFest” and have granted more than $650,000 to aid cancer-burdened families. The foundation’s mission is to serve as an all-purpose resource for the families of children and adolescent cancer patients, providing financial, emotional and moral support, along with understanding and wise counsel.
The featured blue, white and gold Notre Dame Fighting Irish adidas xl shirt was worn in practice by Nic Weishar early in his college career as a member of the Irish. The talented tight end has signed the shirt and added “Practice Worn” in black. The back of the shirt features a Notre Dame player issued “18” embroidery. Weishar wore #81 with the Irish. Sweet shirt for an Irish fan!
