Description
Bryce Hensley is a left-handed pitcher in the Kansas City Royals organization. He was drafted by the Royals in the 22nd Round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Hensley graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, North Carolina after a decorated prep career. The talented pitcher was named 2014 Atlantic Region Honorable Mention by Perfect Game and earned all-state and all-conference honors while also being named the team’s MVP and the Mountain Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year. Hensley tallied a 1.24 ERA and a 5-4 record as a senior, starting 11 contests and throwing four complete games with two shutouts and 84 strikeouts.
Hensley attended Catawba Valley Community College after graduating A.C Reynolds High School. He tied for the Catawba Valley team lead with seven wins while finishing the season with a 2.95 earned run average and a team-best 74 strikeouts in 73.1 innings pitched. He also tossed four complete games including a no-hitter in a 10-0 victory over New River Community College during which he fanned a season-high 14 batters. The left hander transferred from Catawba Valley Community College to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
In his senior year with the Spartans, Hensley made 14 starts with 15 total appearances. The left-hander earned a 6-2 record in 83.1 innings of work. He struck out 82 hitters and earned a 4.21 ERA with one complete game. He worked past the fifth inning in 11 starts and recorded multiple strikeouts in all 15 appearances. Earned his first win of the season by throwing 5.0 innings against Marist (Mar. 3), striking out four hitters and struck out a season-high 11 hitters his next outing, earning the win over Lafayette (Mar. 10)
Hensley pitched in 12 games during his first full season in the minor leagues in 2018, recording a 1.33 ERA, two saves and 23 strikeouts between his stints with the Surprise Royals in the Arizona League and the Class-A Lexington Legends in the South Atlantic League. He made his first hometown appearance since being drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2017 when he pitched four innings with six strikeouts in relief for the Lexington Legends during a 6-4 win over the Asheville Tourists. It was Hensley’s first save for the Legends since being called down to Class A from the Class AA Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Bryce borrowed this glove from a friend who played for the Clemson Tigers. There is a Clemson Tigers embroidery along the right thumb. A.C. Reynolds High School is a public secondary school located in Asheville, North Carolina. Hensley graduated from AC Reynolds in 2014. The talented left hander has signed the glove and added “Game Worn All State & All Conference Honors Mountain Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year” in silver. The glove shows good use!!!
