Riley Delgado is a shortstop in the Atlanta Braves organization. Delgado was drafted in the 9th Round (260th overall) by the Atlanta Braves in the 2017 MLB Draft. Delgado attended Palmetto High School in Miami, FL.
At Miami Palmetto High School, Delgado was named Rookie of the Year and second team All-Dade County as a freshman. In his sophomore year, he was named Defensive Player of the Year and first team All-Dade County. In his junior season, he was awarded MVP and the Captain Award as both a junior and senior. He hit .400 with 28 hits as a freshman, .386 with 26 hits as a sophomore, .426 with 32 hits as a junior and .384 with 26 hits as a senior.
In 2015, Delgado played ball for Columbia State Community College. The talented infielder won a Gold Glove and was named the NJCAA National Defensive Player of the Year. He also hit .370 with 25 RBIs, 43 runs and nine stolen bases. Delgado did not commit an error his whole sophomore year. As a freshman, he Hit .343 with one home run, 43 RBIs and 55 runs.
Delgado played baseball for Middle Tennessee State in 2016 and 2017. In his senior season, he started all 55 games at shortstop (all 110 in his career), hitting leadoff in 50 of 55 games. (105 of 110 games in his career) He was named Second Team All-Conference for the second consecutive year slashing .352/.427/.464. Delgado led the team with 26 multi-hit games, 82 hits, 108 total bases and 41 runs. He ranked eighth in C-USA in batting average (135th in the nation), seventh in hits. (19th in the nation)
In his 1st 3 seasons in the minors, Delgado has an average of .292 with 315 hits in 1175 At-Bats. He has 41 doubles, 3 Triples and a 100 Runs Batted In. He has also scored 107 Runs and been one of the best defenders in the minors. The sky is bright for the Atlanta Braves prospect!!!
