Description
Kyle Bosworth is a free agent outside linebacker, most recently playing for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2010. Bosworth has also been a member of the New York Giants. He played college football at UCLA.
Bosworth attended Plano West Senior High School in Texas. In 2004, He was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year following the season. He was picked to play in the 2005 Coca-Cola Bowl. He finished High school with 231 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three interceptions, six fumble recoveries and one sack. He was an First-team All-District in the 2004 and 2003 seasons in high school. He was a Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2004.
Bosworth finished with UCLA Bruins college career with 174 tackles and 2 sacks. In his sophomore year, he had 77 tackles and 0.5 sack for the season. On September 1, 2007, He recorded 2 tackles against Stanford as UCLA won 45–17. On September 1, 2008, he recorded 5 tackles and a pass defended against No. 18 ranked Tennessee as UCLA won in overtime 27–24.
In his Senior year, Bosworth saw action in 13 games, making 12 starts. He finished second on the team in tackles (77), which tied for 19th in the Pac-10 (5.9 average). He was also sixth on the team with 7.5 tackles for loss and was named Honorable mention all-conference selection by the Pac-10 coaches. His outstanding effort was awarded by being named Defensive Co-winner of UCLA’s Jerry Long “Heart” Award. Led the team with a career-best 2.0 tackles for loss v. San Diego State and totaled four tackles in all. He also had 10 stops at Tennessee, 0.5 for loss and two quarterback hurries. He also had a monster game starting at middle linebacker at Arizona, but also saw action outside and tied for the team lead with eight tackles, one for loss. Bosworth added seven tackles in the bowl win over Temple, including 1.5 sacks.
Bosworth was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars after the 2010 NFL Draft. Bosworth spent his rookie season on injured reserve. On November 15, 2011, he was placed on injured reserve because of a broken hand he suffered against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9. He finished the season with 5 tackles in 9 games. In the Jaguars’ 2012 season opener against the Minnesota Vikings, Bosworth started the game at linebacker in place of the injured Daryl Smith and recorded nine tackles. On 9/16 vs Houston, Bosworth started again at LB and made 14 tackles (nine solo) with two tackles for loss. For the season, Bosworth played in a career-high 16 games with five starts, making 53 tackles and one interception and led the Jaguars with a career-best 14 special teams tackles.
Bosworth wore the featured gray and white adidas gloves as a member of the Bruins. The linebacker has signed the gloves and they show light use.
