Hanner played baseball at Prospect Heights Middle School and quickly became a standout player in high school. At OCHS, Hanner helped his team win the district championship in 2017. He finished that season with an 8-2 record, 0.79 earned run average and 114 strikeouts in 68 innings pitched. He was generally on the field to pitch but also played shortstop. Even as a ninth-grader, Hanner stood out. “He had as much potential as anybody I’ve seen. His raw ability was head and shoulders above others,” Rabe said.

He surrendered 36 Runs on 56 Hits and struck out 107 batters in 71.1 innings of work. He was top five in several NJCAA pitching statistics. After two standout seasons at PHCC, Hanner was selected by the Twins in the 21st round (629 overall) of the MLB Draft. He signed a month later and was assigned to the Twins’ rookie league team in the Gulf Coast League.
In 11 appearances, Hanner compiled a 2-3 record and a save in his introduction to professional baseball. In 26.2 innings, he allowed 13 earned runs on 16 hits and struck out 30 to post a 4.39 earned-run average. On May 1st, 2021, Hanner was assigned to the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels from the GCL Twins.
