Description
Chandler Cox is a fullback for the Miami Dolphins. He was drafted in the 7th Round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Cox played college football for the Auburn Tigers. He played in 52 games with 41 career starts. He was a 4-star fullback from Apopka (Fla.) High School where he did a little bit of everything, including play quarterback.
Cox began his journey at Auburn as an early enrollee in January of 2015, sacrificing the last semester of his senior year at Apopka High School in Florida to come to Auburn early in hopes of making a quick impact and helping his new team as soon as possible.
It wasn’t easy graduating high school early. He missed prom and spring break with his friends. He also was thrown into the fire at Auburn where he was going up against guys bigger and stronger than he ever saw in high school. But his hard work and determination were rewarded as he became the starting H-back his freshman year on the Plains.
As a freshman, it was about finding ways to contribute. But Cox evolved into so much more while at Auburn and his role continued to grow. It wasn’t just about getting that key block to open a hole for the running back or catching a pass out of the backfield. It was his consistency every day, being a dependable teammate and becoming one of the more influential leaders on the team. That leadership stemmed from former Auburn linebacker Justin Garrett. The two were locker buddies when Garrett was a senior and Cox was just a freshman, and Garrett showed Cox what it meant to be a true leader.
In 2018, the four-year starter caught a career-best four catches for 52 yards vs. Washington. Cox also added three catches for 20 yards against LSU. He caught his first career touchdown reception vs. Southern Mississippi and added a 1-yard TD run against Tennessee. Cox also added a 1-yard TD run in the fourth quarter in the 28-24 win over the Texas A&M Aggies.
The featured Auburn Tigers Football COUNT ON ME under armour heatgear shirt was worn for workouts by Chandler Cox as a member of the Tigers. The shirt features an Auburn Tigers player issued “27” across the front. The talented fullback has signed the shirt and added his “#27” “Workout Shirt” and “WDE” in silver. (WDE stands for War Damn Eagle) The back of the shirt displays “COUNT ON ME” in bold letters. Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn introduced this team motto in 2015 as a way for players to be able to count on each other on and off the field. The shirt is in great condition.
