Description
David Beedle is a former offensive guard with the Michigan State Spartans. The four-year letterwinner played in 36 career games, including 18 starts. (10 at left guard, three at right guard, five at left tackle) Beedle attended Clarkston High School in Clarkston, Michigan and was an All-Oakland Activities Association Red selection who anchored a defensive unit that allowed just 14.7 points per game in 2013. As a senior, Beedle recorded 30 tackles (10 solos, 20 assists), with six resulting in losses including a sack.
Beedle took a redshirt as a true freshman at MSU and moved to left guard the following year before playing left tackle in 2016. As a redshirt junior, he missed three games due to a knee injury but started three games at right guard and six at left guard. In 550 total snaps, he didn’t allow a single sack. The performance earned Beedle third team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media and he was graded tied for third in pass blocking efficiency for all guards in the nation eligible for the 2019 NFL draft by Pro Football Focus. He was also named recipient of the MSU Danziger Award (Outstanding Detroit-Area Player)
Heading into his fifth-year senior season, Beedle was Michigan State’s most-experienced offensive lineman but unfortunately he was plagued by injuries and he only played a total of 240 snaps and the Spartans finished 7-6. Beedle was injured in the first quarter of an Oct. 6 loss to Northwestern in East Lansing. He missed the next six games, played sparingly in a win against Rutgers on senior day in the regular-season finale and then missed the Redbox Bowl loss to Oregon.
Beedle, 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, was one of eight former Spartans who participated in Michigan State’s pro day, which was attended by representatives from all 32 NFL teams. He posted 26 reps in the 225-pound bench press, which would have tied for 16th among offensive linemen at the combine.
