Jay Bromley is a defensive tackle for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Giants in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Syracuse.
Bromley attended Flushing High School in Queens, New York, where he was named to the New York Post All-City First Team and was an all-borough selection following his senior season. He recorded 60 tackles and 12 sacks as a senior, while serving as team captain. He recorded over 40 sacks in his high school.
Despite his dominance he did not receive much recruiting attention , and only had a walk-on option at Stony Brook University. By June of his senior year, he was without any scholarship offers. However, after an invite to the Outback Steakhouse Empire Challenge, Bromley dominated the event, earning himself MVP honors. In the coming days, he received a scholarship from the University of Syracuse, which he accepted. During his career at Syracuse, Bromley recorded 121 tackles, including 25.5 for loss, 14 sacks, and three forced fumbles.
In 2013, Bromley started all 13 games at weakside defensive tackle and received All-Atlantic Coast Conference 3rd-team honors from the league’s coaches. The talented lineman recorded 42 tackles (32 solo), tied for 4th in the league with 3 forced fumbles and tied for the team lead with Marquis Spruill, totaling a career-high 14.5 stops for losses of 110 yards. In 2014, Bromley led the Orange in tackles for loss (14.5) and sacks (10) and was named a third-team All-ACC selection.
As a rookie in 2014 with the Giants, Jay Bromley played in 8 games as a sub defensive tackle and on special teams. Bromley was inactive for 7 games and did not play in another and made his NFL debut vs. Arizona (9/14) and had 1 tackle. He finished his rookie season with 5 tackles for the New York Giants. In 2016, he played in all 16 game for the Giants with 4 starts and notched 36 tackles in limited duty.
The featured New York Giants stretch-fit fitted cap was worn by Jay Bromley in 2016 NFL Training Camp as well on the sidelines of a preseason game as a member of the New York Giants. The defensive tackle has signed the cap and added “Sideline Hat” in black. Bromley’s #96 is written in black on the inside bill of the cap. As could be viewed from the images, there is some type of powder on the top of the hat.
