Description
John Moffitt is a former NFL guard, most recently playing for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2011 NFL Draft by Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks. Moffitt has also been a member of the Denver Broncos. He played football for the Wisconsin Badgers where he had a great college career.
Moffitt attended Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Connecticut, US, where he was a two-time all-conference choice as a two-way lineman. As a senior, he made 65 tackles and registered seven QB sacks in 2005. Regarded as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, he was listed as the No. 13 prospect from the New England region.
In 2009, Moffitt earned third letter playing in 11 games, starting 10. (eight at left guard, two at center) When Peter Konz went down with an injury, Moffitt filled in perfectly starting at center against Miami in the Champs Sports Bowl on Dec. 29. The team player also started at left guard in eight games making his season debut against Wofford on Sept. 19 after missing first two games of the season due to an injury.
In 2010, Moffitt started at left guard in all 13 games and was named UW’s co-offensive player of the week for the Michigan game. Moffitt along with rest of starting offensive line and Bill Nagy were named UW’s co-offensive players of the week for the Minnesota game as well. Moffitt was also named AP first-team All-American, SI second-team All-American, consensus first-team All-Big Ten and Wayne Souza Coaches Appreciation Award. (Offense)
Moffitt was a first-team All-American and consensus first-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior playing in 45 games over the course of his career, earning the start in 42 of those contests. Moffitt is big, tough, physical, and versatile and was a well-respected team leader; being named one of the Badger’s team captains.
