Description
Johnny Millard is a free agent linebacker, most recently playing for the St Louis Rams. Millard signed a free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams following the 2014 NFL Draft. Millard played his college football for the Cal Poly Mustangs.
Millard came out of Foothill High in California as an undersized linebacker. He drew some interest from his dad (Former NFL Player Keith Millard) alma mater, Washington State, and from San Jose State but opted for Cal Poly, where he was a four-year starter. He was a tackle machine finishing his career with 300 tackles, which is sixth all-time for the Mustangs and 24.5 tackles for lost yardage, 5.5 sacks, three interceptions and 11 games with double-digit tackles. Millard led the team with 82 tackles as a sophomore and peaked his senior season with 108, seven for loss, with four pass deflections, three quarterback hurries and one interception.
In 2012, Millard was a key member of a Cal Poly squad that finished 9-3 overall, earned a share of the Big Sky Conference in its first season in that league and earned a berth in the NCAA Division I FCS playoffs. In his final season as a Mustang, Millard recorded 108 tackles, including 7.0 for lost yardage, en route to second-team All-Big Sky Conference honors. He also had three pass breakups, an interception and a trio of quarterback hurries. His career totals: 150-150-300 tackles (No. 6 all-time at Cal Poly), 24.5 tackles for lost yardage, 5.5 sacks, three interceptions and 11 games with double-digit tackles.
A team captain as a senior, Millard played in a pair of all-star games early this year — the inaugural Medal of Honor Bowl in Charleston, S.C., and the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla. —but went undrafted and signed with the Rams shortly after the 2014 NFL Draft.
The former Cal Poly standout became one of the first players to sign with the Fall Experimental Football League (FXFL), a first-year organization where each of its six franchises will play a six-game schedule this season. Millard signed with the Brooklyn Bolts under head coach and former New York Jets offensive lineman John Bock and linebackers coach Marvin Jones, a former Jets star in his own right.
The featured green and white nike cleats were game worn by Johnny Millard in the 2014 East-West Shrine Game on January 18th, 2014. Millard had a huge game recovering a fumble and nearly intercepting a pass for the East. The West squad fumbled on its second play from scrimmage and Millard, playing for the East squad, recovered the ball, setting up a 31-yard field goal by East kicker Zach Hocker of Arkansas less than two minutes into the game. The East went on to win the 89th edition of the collegiate all-star game, 23-13. Millard also wore these cleats in the Mustangs series finale against Northern Colorado when he notched a career high 15 tackles.
Millard has signed the cleats and added “East West Shrine Game Fum Recovery” to one cleat and added “15 Tackles, 1 Int 2 TFL” to the other shoe. The cleats were taped up but still show good visible use!!! Awesome and unique piece of Shrine Game Memorabilia by Millard!!!
