Description
Justin Trattou is a former NFL defensive end most recently playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League. He was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2011. Trattou has also been a member of the Minnesota Vikings. He played college football for the University of Florida.
Trattou was born in Maywood, New Jersey. He lived in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey and Ramsey, and attended Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey. As a senior playing for the Don Bosco Ironmen high school football team, Trattou was a defensive force notching 82 tackles and 17 sacks, and helping lead Don Bosco to a perfect 12–0 record and its first state title since 2003.
Trattou accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida, where he played for coach Urban Meyer’s Florida Gators football team from 2007 to 2010. During his sophomore season, the Gators won a Southeastern Conference (SEC) championship and the 2009 BCS National Championship Game. As a senior team captain in 2010, he memorably returned an interception thirty-five yards for a touchdown, and was the recipient of the Gators’ Fergie Ferguson Award, recognizing “the senior football player who displays outstanding leadership, character and courage.” In his four seasons as a Gator, he played in fifty-two games, and started thirty-one of them, including all thirteen games during his senior year.
In his college career with the Gators, Trattou recorded 121 tackles (75 solo, 47 assisted) and 26.0 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, three interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one pass breakup and three pass deflections. In his senior season, Trattou was named to the 2010 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll and played and started all 13 games. He finished fourth on the Gators with 57 tackles, 35 solo, and was first on the team with 12.0 tackles for loss.
Trattou (6-4, 255) has played 37 regular-season games over the past six seasons, including all 16 for the Minnesota Vikings in 2016. He intercepted a pair of passes while playing five games for Minnesota in 2015. Trattou’s career totals include eight tackles and two passes defensed.
The featured black and white nike speed cleats were game worn by Justin Trattou when the Giants faced the Carolina Panthers in the 1st preseason game of the 2011 season. The Panthers won 20-10 behind Heisman Trophy Winner Cam Newton from Auburn who displayed his big play potential. Trattou had a solid NFL debut with three tackles. The defensive end has signed the cleats and added to the left one “8-13-11 3 Tackles.” Trattou’s #69 is written on the heel of each cleat. The cleats show good use.
