Justin Trattou is a defensive end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League. He was signed by the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2011. Trattou has also been a member of the Minnesota Vikings. He played college football for the University of Florida.

Trattou was born in Maywood, New Jersey. He lived in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey and Ramsey, and attended Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey. As a senior playing for the Don Bosco Ironmen high school football team, Trattou was a defensive force notching 82 tackles and 17 sacks, and helping lead Don Bosco to a perfect 12–0 record and its first state title since 2003.

Trattou accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida, where he played for coach Urban Meyer’s Florida Gators football team from 2007 to 2010. During his sophomore season, the Gators won a Southeastern Conference (SEC) championship and the 2009 BCS National Championship Game. As a senior team captain in 2010, he memorably returned an interception thirty-five yards for a touchdown, and was the recipient of the Gators’ Fergie Ferguson Award, recognizing “the senior football player who displays outstanding leadership, character and courage.” In his four seasons as a Gator, he played in fifty-two games, and started thirty-one of them, including all thirteen games during his senior year.

In his college career with the Gators, Trattou recorded 121 tackles (75 solo, 47 assisted) and 26.0 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, three interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one pass breakup and three pass deflections. In his senior season, Trattou was named to the 2010 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll and played and started all 13 games. He finished fourth on the Gators with 57 tackles, 35 solo, and was first on the team with 12.0 tackles for loss.

Trattou (6-4, 255) has played 37 regular-season games over the past six seasons, including all 16 for the Minnesota Vikings in 2016. He intercepted a pair of passes while playing five games for Minnesota in 2015. Trattou’s career totals include eight tackles and two passes defensed.

The East-West Shrine Game is the oldest and one of the most respected of the post-season collegiate bowl games. Since 1925, the game has been known for the quality of the players and coaches, as well as for the excitement of great college football action.

But that’s not what makes the game “Football’s Finest Hour.” What makes the East-West Game so special is its true purpose — helping to support Shriners Hospitals for Children. Every year since 1925, the East-West Game has been played to raise funds for Shriners Hospitals for Children and to raise awareness about the expert orthopedic, burn, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and cleft lip and palate care, available at no charge to patients and families, through the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children. The players themselves regard the game in a special light, as they learn the true purpose of the game during a pre-game visit to the Shriners Hospital in Tampa, Florida.

The featured black gamewear shorts were worn by Justin Trattou during practice for the 2011 East-West Shrine Game at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida on January 22, 2011. The West squad was coached by Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips. Trattou played on the East team which was coached by Dan Reeves. Trattou turned the Florida Citrus Bowl into his own version of The Swamp. Trattou played an integral part of an East defense that wreaked havoc at the 86th East-West Shrine Game, holding the West to 126 total yards and forcing four turnovers leading to a 25-8 win.
