Matt Furstenburg is a free agent tight end, most recently playing for the Baltimore Ravens in the National Football League. He played college football at the University of Maryland.
Furstenburg was a two-sport star in Flemington, New Jersey, helping his football team win a state title as an all-state tight end and defensive lineman (400 receiving yards, eight sacks) and also being part of three straight state champion lacrosse squads. He attended the Hun School for the fall after graduation, helping them to an undefeated record as well.
In 2008, Furstenburg played in two games with the Terrapins before using his redshirt due to an ankle injury. He played 11 games, starting one, in 2009 but had only one catch for nine yards against Rutgers. Finally getting into the starting lineup as a sophomore, he made 12 catches for 206 yards and a touchdown. In 2011, Furstenberg became a greater part of the offense, covering 348 yards and scoring twice on 31 receptions. As a senior, Furstenberg caught 16 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Furstenburg was projected to be a late-round pick after posting the second-fastest 40-yard dash at the tight end position at the NFL Scouting Combine (4.62 seconds).
The featured Baltimore Ravens nike drifit 2xl shirt was game worn by Matt Furstenburg in his 1st NFL Game when the Baltimore Ravens faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on August 8th, 2013 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Super Bowl champions opened the preseason with a 44-16 rout of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco was sharp in limited work, a revamped defense swarmed and forced four turnovers, and special teams scored one touchdown and set up another. Furstenburg caught the 1st pass of his NFL career, a 24 yard laser from Tyrod Taylor in the 3rd quarter. Furstenburg has signed the shirt and added “1st NFL Career Game & Catch” in silver to the chest area. There is a Baltimore Ravens player issued “85” label in the collar. Sweet!
