Description
Ryan Bee is a defensive lineman for the Washington Redskins. He was signed shortly after the 2019 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent. He played college football for the Marshall Thundering Herd. Bee attended Hillsdale H.S. in Ashland, Ohio, where he was the team captain for the football and basketball teams. Bee tallied 154 tackles, 33 tackles for loss and 26 sacks along with 20 catches for 250 yards and eight touchdowns from 2012-13 and was named an Associated Press 2013 All-Ohio Division VI first team selection.
Bee spent five years at Marshall under head coach Doc Holliday’s tutelage and served as a four-year starter for the team. After taking a redshirt year as a freshman in 2014, Bee played a big role on the team in 2015 and eventually played his way into the starting role in the second half of that season. From there on out, he would start all but one game.
During his career at Marshall, Bee was an extremely consistent producer. He had at least four sacks in each of his four seasons and finished his career with 18 in total. Bee tallied 200 career tackles (56 solo), 29.5 tackles for loss, 18.0 sacks, seven pass defensed, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and two blocked kicks.
Bee was a big part of Marshall’s defensive success, and he helped them finish with three scoring defenses that fell in the top 27 (out of 130 teams). In his first year as a starter, the team actually allowed the 10th fewest points per game to opponents at 17.8. So, Bee obviously helped to keep up the team’s defense (which has been solid since the 2013 season) in great working order. Bee finished senior season with 36 tackles (13 solo), 7.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. He also recorded two passes defensed and two forced fumbles and Earned Conference USA first team honors.
Prior to his senior year, Bee was considered to be a potential late-round 2019 NFL draft pick, but he fell out of the draft despite his consistent production and success. He didn’t last long as an undrafted free agent, as the Redskins scooped him up and signed him to their 90-man roster.
In between the combine and the NFL Draft, NFL coaches and personnel — not to mention the prospects themselves — turn their attention to the various college “pro day” workouts. These are not as all-encompassing as the combine, but they are important enough for the key decision-makers in the league to travel around the country for more than a month to see the talent up close and personal.
The Marshall Thundering Herd Pro Day took place on March 13th, 2019 at the Chris Cline Athletic Facility in Marshall. Thirteen former Marshall players including Seniors Anthony Anderson, Ryan Bee, Tyre Brady, Keion Davis, Chase Hancock, Frankie Hernandez, Artis Johnson, Donyae Moody, Terence Ricks, Malik Thompson, Marcel Williams and Juwon Young, plus NFL early entrant, junior Malik Gant, went through testing in front of 30 representatives from National Football League teams and Canadian Football League teams. Bee had a stellar day running the 40 yard-dash in 5.12/5.14, Vertical leap 30 ½ inches, broad jump – 8 feet, 4 inches and notching 21 reps on the 225 Pound Bench Press.
The featured black and white Marshall Thundering Herd pro day nike pants were issued to and worn by Ryan Bee in warm-ups for his 2019 Pro Day. Bee wore a pair of Marshall training shorts for his 40-yard dash and Pro Day drills. The talented defensive end has signed the pants and added “Pro day worn 40 yd dash -5.12 Verticle 30.5 inches Broad 8 feet 4 inches Bench – 21” in black. Really sweet pair of pants for a Marshall Fan!!!
