Description
Shane Wimann is a tight end for the New England Patriots. He was signed shortly after the 2018 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent. Wimann played college football for the Northern Illinois Huskies. At Wisconsin Dells High School, Wimann was named the MVP of the South Central Conference in 2012. He also earned all-state, all-area and all-conference honors following his senior season.
During the 2016 season, Wimann tied the school record for most touchdowns in a single season by a tight end with six, matching Matt Dunker’s 2002 total. He also became NIU’s career leader in touchdown catches by a tight end with 10 total touchdowns, surpassing Dunker’s nine. As the Huskies’ fourth leading receiver during the 2016 season, Wimann caught 24 passes for 254 yards. Against Kent State, he caught three passes for a career high 65 yards with a long of 32 yards. He recorded a catch in 11 games and entered his senior season with 35 career catches for 352 yards.
In 2017, Wimann became the first NIU tight end to earn MAC first team honors since Brad Cieslak in 2004 and did so while breaking the school record for touchdown catches by a tight end with seven. A stellar blocker, he caught a career-high 30 passes in 2017, giving the senior 65 for his career. The 17 career TDs are also a team record for a tight end.
Wimann fluidly releases off the line into pass routes, quickly gets into breaks and stays low on exit. He also extends his hands to make receptions away from his frame and fires into blocks, stays square and works through the whistle. At NIU’s NFL Pro Day, Wimann measured in at 6 foot 3, 251 pounds and clocked a 4.95 40-yard dash, 30½ vertical jump and 19 reps on the 225 lb bench press.
In between the combine and the NFL Draft, NFL coaches and personnel — not to mention the prospects themselves — turn their attention to the various college “pro day” workouts. These are not as all-encompassing as the combine, but they are important enough for the key decision-makers in the league to travel around the country for more than a month to see the talent up close and personal.
The featured size 12 white, silver and black adidas adizero cleats were worn by Shane Wimann for Northern Illinois Huskies Pro Day on March 7th, 2018. Wimann had a solid day measuring in at 6 foot 3, 251 pounds and clocking a 4.95 40-yard dash, 30½ vertical jump and 19 reps on the 225 lb bench press. The talented tight end wore these dynamite lightweight cleats for his 40-yard dash. Wimann has signed the cleats and added “2018 NIU Pro Day” to the left shoe and “Worn for 40-Yard Dash” to the right one. Sweet pair of shoes!!!
