Description
Will Latcham is a free agent Major League Baseball Pitcher, most recently playing in the Atlanta Braves organization. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-handed pitcher was taken in the 17th round, (514th overall pick) of the MLB First-Year Player Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. Latcham played college baseball for Cumberland County College before transferring to Coastal Carolina University. He played high school baseball for Cardinal O’Hara in Springfield, Pennsylvania. He was Two-time All-Philadelphia Catholic League as he earned first team in 2014 and second team in 2013.
Latcham — Briarcliffe, Pa., native — was a starting pitcher during his entire career, from his time on the mound at Cardinal O’Hara High School to his two-year stint in junior college. When he joined Coastal Carolina — the defending national champions — the coaches put him in the bullpen. He was the team’s setup man for a few appearances before earning the coaching staff’s trust to take on the closer role. Latcham adjusted well to becoming a reliever and went 3-0 with four saves, 29 Strikeouts and a 1.05 ERA at Coastal Carolina in 2017.
Latcham spent the previous two years at Cumberland County College, including a stellar sophomore season in which he led all of National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Division III with 128 strikeouts, going 6-3 with a 1.84 ERA in 13 games. He was named Region X1X Pitcher of the Year and All-Region. Latcham also ranked third nationally with three shutouts and fifth in innings pitched. (83.1) His 13.82 strikeouts per nine innings ranked fourth in the nation and he only allowed 27 walks all season. In his freshman season at Cumberland County. Latcham was 6-2 in nine starts with three complete games. He also posted a 2.44 ERA with 57 strikeouts in 59.0 innings.
In 2017 with the State College Spikes, Latcham continued his mound dominance going 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA and 4 saves in 18 games. He also struck out 41 in 30 innings pitched. In his 4-year minor league career, he has appeared in 123 games and gone 10-8 with 18 Saves and 172 Strikeouts in 164 innings.
